Do these pants make my butt look fat?

Published January 30, 2012 by TrueLifeDiva Sparkles and Shines

The biggest fear of all, having an overly large ass.  We want a little junk in da trunk, just not a whole dump truck full. 5 yrs ago I was 50+lbs heavier than I am now.  It took me 2 yrs to lose the weight, then I had a setback and gained 20 lbs.  Since then I’ve gained and lost the same 10 lbs, never getting back to my goal weight.  A few months ago, when the holidays rolled around I decided to plan my goals for 2012.  I decided I was fine with my current weight.  In truth I am only 15 lbs over my high school/college weight.  My fitness goal for 2012 would be to get leaner, gain more muscle.  I looked up classes that I felt would help me get there and started my resolutions early.  And just like that I dropped 4 lbs!  Something else happened…all my workout clothes became too big.  Even the lycra/spandexy stuff :-).  A co-worker who sews offered to take in my now oversized gear.  Some had to be taken in more than 3″ and a few had to be altered twice because they were still baggy in the butt.  And speaking of butts, mine is disappearing fast.  I have a pair of jeans that I had taken in when I first  achieved my goal weight.  I call these my “skinny jeans”.  They are not those ugly tapered leg jeans that aren’t flattering to pear shaped chicks like myself.  They are my skinny jeans because they only fit when my tummy is flat and my ass is under 40″.  My skinny jeans no longer fit now.  Too big….  The scale numbers are slowly creeping downward but it’s the fat % numbers that are rolling along for me now.  I’m in the “healthy” percentage range and I think I want to see if I can achieve “athletic” percentage numbers.  It’s very exciting to see I’m in the best shape ever.  I’m 41 and I have the body of a 25 yr old 🙂  All the hard work is paying off!  I may be posting bikini pics by summer :-).   Some people celebrate weight loss by buying new wardrobes.  I have a closet full of clothes I’ve been waiting to wear.  I’ve even had pants that were never worn taken in because I’m under that size now.  I feel very blessed to be able to brag like I’m doing today  :-D.   Where are you on your fitness journey?  When will you feel you have reached your goals?  Is it a pants size or a number on the scale?  Peace, Love, and Happiness TrueLifeDiva 😀

Gym Buddies

Gym Buddies

I was all set to talk about a different topic today.  And then something happened at the gym.  I arrived early for spin class per my usual.  The class is very popular and  this particular teacher is even more popular than most.  You have to come an hour early or pay to reserve a spot.  I’m too freaking cheap so I come early.  Some folks don’t get the timing right and end up on  the waiting list.  A girl who had recently started taking the class pulled up her bike next to me and asked me what did I think her chances were of getting in based on being #9 on the waiting list.  Slim to none ;-).  During the course of our conversation she mentioned she was a fitness model.  She is 6’1″ and built like a Barbie doll.  She spends her days working on her body but doesn’t like to work out alone.  But no one she knows wants to REALLY workout.  Reminded me of a topic we discussed last year, the saboteurs among us.  Her story is one we all know too well.  Friends  say they want to work out and get fit but then flake when it comes time to hit the gym/trail.  She asked me if she could work out with me whenever I go to the gym.  Sure, why not?  I’m already gonna be there ;-).  If I waited around for my girlfriends to join me in my workouts, I’d be big as a freaking house by now!  So I made a new gym buddy today.  I inspired someone without even knowing it.  It feels good to bond with another female over fitness and not just shoes and shopping (not that there’s anything wrong with that 🙂 ).  Do you workout alone or do you need a tag partner in order to put in work?  What does your support system consist of?  Peace, Love, and Happiness TrueLifeDiva 😀

What’s in your gym bag 2012

Published January 9, 2012 by TrueLifeDiva Sparkles and Shines

What’s in your gym bag?

What’s in my gym bag was a topic I visited last year.  It’s time to revisit and remix it 😉 I’m a little OCD when it comes to my stuff.  And even though I meet the definition of a “Gym Rat”, that little voice in my head can still talk me out of working out for the littlest reasons.  So I must have a gym bag packed with any and everything I might possible need or I will turn around and go home.

The Basics:

Shower wrap

Shower shoes/ flip flops

Turbie Twist

Ziploc bags for wet stuff

Water bottle

Hook w/suction cup for showers that don’t have hooks

The Essentials:

A weeks worth of panties

A weeks worth of face cloths

3-4 brars

Extra sports bra

Spare socks

Panty hose in black, white, and nude

The Toiletries:

Lotion

Sunblock

Shampoo

Eye makeup remover

Body wash

Face wash

Deodorant

Styling gel

Styling wax

Spritz

Body spray

Dental wax

Qtips

Hand sanitizer

Small boars hair brush

Clear bra straps

Tampons

Sanitary napkins

Extra scarf

Razor

Finishing Touches:

Sneakers

Extra water bottle

Spare outfit

Headbands

Swimsuit

Swim shoes

Outfit of the day

I admit I’m a little high maintenance when it comes to my hygiene and apparel, LOL :-).  But it gets me in the right frame of mind to put in work at the gym. I would like to pare it down but I doubt it’s possible.  Is there anything I’m missing?  Let a Diva know!
